I start to notice:
Dead leaves, colder breeze,
And my knees sometimes give in
To the weariness, built up by
The miles and months elapsed.
The state of tender lassitude
Descends; it veils my sight.
And I—I start to see—
Through the thick tendrils of my lashes—
I see the rainbow disks conceived by
the refracted sun rays.
And I can swear, I start to see
The multitude, the mesh of rails
My train could take, could've taken, and will take...
But, for God's sake, just for a moment, let me rest.
Please share the weight of making choices
With thy friend. Relieve the burden off my chest,
Release the free will we've once had.
Autumnal hymn, it goes like this:
The roads we travel, they unwind
In one's mind's eye,
Maybe in yours, maybe in mine.
The sun will set, the night will come,
The travellers, exhausted, halt
Under a tree that shed its leaves.
The winds are howling
The very hymn we're humming too.
The stars are shimmering above,
Reflecting in your eyes.
And for today, it is enough.
And if tomorrow winter comes and claims
Its rights, we'll be prepared,
We'll be alright.
