Autumn No More...

Winter Came Too Soon!

I step out onto the first blanket of snow

The snow crunches beneath my feet

The white reflecting the sun's rays so bright almost blinding I shield my eyes

I take a deep breath my lungs tighten, my chest hurts as if they froze in this cold air

I gasp, little puffs of white clouds exhale from my lips as I begin to cough

I close my eyes as if transporting myself back to the last day of Autumn

I heard the wind rustling through the trees on the leaves and as I sat back lounging in my chair

I imagined I was on a tropical island somewhere hearing the waves crashing to the shore

A slightest bit of a smile begins to appear just as a breeze of cool air wisps by and hits me in the face

I snap back into reality grip the hood of my jacket and pull it back up over my head thinking to myself Autumn No More

As I try to brush my hair from my face I say Nope turn around and go back inside the house

I sit down to a glass of steaming hot cocoa I take the gloves off, unwrap my scarf from my face smile and tell myself you tried

Who Am I?

I keep asking myself. I spent half of my life as a single mother. Pushing myself to be the strong independent individual that I have always been. My kids have grown and my life seems turned upside down.

I now search to find myself!
