On this part cloudy autumn morning,
with blue skies and cumulus clouds,
I ventured into my backyard garden.
Rain had triggered sprouting,
even the narcissus was up.
Curry plant taller than me,
was sporting shiny leaves.
Spring onions are fresh,
I picked a bunch, to garnish lunch.
Desert sunflower plants
were loaded with yellow blooms,
gees were swarming, humming,
pollen baskets heavy on their thighs.
A wren chirped loud,
from the neighbor's Southern magnolia,
I admired the orange zinnias,
a dandelion had blooming too.
Buddha, rabbit, angel figurine,
gave serenity to a nook.
I picked a green guava,
munched, nostalgia quenched.
No giver like a garden,
no peaceful place like it.
