Autumn Brings Clarity
The cold air is clear,
Holding the light
Of Sol and Luna alike
With the gentle caress
Of a fascinated observer.
<>
The foliage falls
And even the forest
Must give itself
To the horizon.
<>
The treetops are clouds
Raining leaves;
The horizon
The distant shore
Of an ancient land.
<>
I will go there now,
Into the Autumn Horizon.
Falling like a leaf,
Or dropping like a stone
Into the Abyss.
The Fatal Forest
Glass raindrops
Magnify the sunlight
And set the forest ablaze
Once a day.
Jagged,
Scorched
Half-trees and stumps
Support the overgrowth
Of poisonous vines
Which bear no fruit.
They say the trees
Are the accursed souls
Of murder-suicides,
And the forest
Is a gateway
To Hell.
The Fallen Tree
A magnificent snarl of roots
Finally loses touch with the earth
Where the leaf meets its shadow
In the sun-dappled glade.
<>
The fallen tree becomes
A flowerbed,
A creature’s den,
A bridge…
To immortality?

This is brilliant. It reminds me of never ending change.
Lovely seasonal poetry! I loved the imagery in these. This part especially stood out to me. “Glass raindrops Magnify the sunlight And set the forest ablaze.” Excellent work!
