Audacity of the phoenix
In eclipse - A fable
Ego was worn as a crown of pride, as the phoenix flew higher and higher up towards the stoical sun.
"Could I not become mightier than you, Sun"? He shouted disrespectfully, thinking himself immortal, as he got closer and closer.
Like the God of the day that he was, Sun looked on, unmoving in his regal majesty.
In the distance, Moon smiled at the audacity of the beautiful bird, foolish thing, she thought, he needed to be saved form himself.
Pirouetting gracefully, quite against her nature, Moon hurriedly glided towards the unfazed, lazy and unmoving sun. All Sun had to do, after all, was shine. Phoenix would burn.
Sun felt the shadow of the moon cross his celestial form, his light flared, searing the wings of the phoenix. From the corner of his eyes, he saw the phoenix start to fall, feathers burning. He had gotten too close to the sun.
Elegiacally, prodigiously, phoenix was made immortal by the Sun God's fiery flare. His plan eclipsed, he was made to die and arise in fire for evermore. He regretted his pride, being reborn seared his very soul.
