Poem

By Steve MurphyPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

This is the catch that holds the eenies, the meenies, the mineys, the Moes that takes off from the backstreets

keeping the Chevies from breaking the levee and washing the world away.

Because of this small "i" through which a camel may pass

from the bottom of the bottomless sea the eyes shine like diamonds set in onyx, aping the depths of the stars, illuminating our way

granting safe passage through the watery grotto and

we are able to breathe, somehow, though that's not our large concern beneath the straining gyre.
