At the River's Edge

A fish story

Burning, itching, within a humid hell

Rocking, wading, through a thousand tiny waves

Hurting, limping while forcing anger's quell

Reeling, hoping, to find the one behaves

Hook, line, sinker disappear forever

Jagged rocks tear into feet's tender skin

Repeating this again, never, ever

Yet we can't give up, let the river win

The bobber flies along the rapid currents

Creatures invade along the muddy shore

The test becomes more than just endurance

The fish becomes more than just folklore

Diamonds on the water, bright smile on your face

A day of fishing, I cannot replace
