At Journey's End

A long road home in the middle of the roads traveled hard

Shall the traveler ever arrive there to see the end of the journey

What shall they find when home is before their weary eyes

Did they arrive at that which their hearts sought most certain

Did they finish the long journey only to find the culling has begun

Now comes the end of their road and the abyss does await

Spent wishes long since forgotten, left lying in their path unfound

The wrong turns and sure delights a distant memory as they plummet

Rushing into the darkness of that dreary end, waiting for their crash

They've been brought to the end by the hands of their disasters self-made

Carry with them the pains of past sorrows, and their conjured ugliness

And endure the sadness of the endlessness of those solemn tomorrows

The pain that abounds brings limitless misery with no reprieves

Until the end bears down on their empty lives and they smile when they say

Ahhhhh....death, the sweetest release from all that pains this soul of mine

And fate's vile hand turns the wheel away from the end of the road

Screaming, you shall know no such mercy as the release this day

And the poor wretched souls are pushed to continue the lonely road

Remembering what lies behind and racing to find the bitter end

For it was fate that haunted them, but a fate made of their own

And the journey continues past the ends of oblivion

Wretched souls and unbound hells upon the Earth

More battles with demons to be fought before the sweet escape

For you may not meet the end of the road until fate's suffering is paid

And in that moment, they know, their only control was their reaction to fate

And they know, the sweetest release must wait

Their journey has not reached the end of the road

There will be more to come in all due time

More screaming, more pain, and more struggling of the mind

For only the good shall pass while young
