At Dawn

I am afraid of the night. I am in love with the dawn.

Darkness. The curtains drawn.

Through the seams, light filters.

I watch and await,

hoping for warmth in this winter.

The silver night light edging through the curtains begins to blush,

and after some time,

orange beams break through the hush.

As everyone sleeps,

the morning begins to sweep the streets.

The sunlight cleanses the earth like warm water,

the bright skies put on a colorful show.

The sun gives everything a glow.

Shadows, monsters, and darkness are slaughtered.

With the night gone,

this new day will right our wrongs.

No longer will the unknown be a bother.

Gone is the darkness, suffocating,

the starlight penetrating,

like razor blades.

I watch with a smile,

as the sun rises higher,

and the world is again remade.
