Ask me this April
After the Carpathian, until
For no one else delved
On the 17th of '12
.
Ask me in December
If I can remember
Why I joined the Navy — come
1941
.
Ask me in August
Why I felt I must
Visit Hiroshima — arrive
in 1945
.
Ask me in September
Why I lost my temper
Because Heaven and Hell were overrun
By 2001

Bloody wars, they ruin everything. Are we any better for them? Lots of dead people. Life goes on to more wars....Time to stop Heaven and hell have had enough. Nice touch to the prompt. Hope you are ok.
A unique take on the challenge and well-expressed sadness.
Insights abound in so few lines. Moving, impactful, thoughtful, heart-tugging. Never forget. Thank you to all who serve.
This was so deep and poignant! Loved your poem!
The wars keep coming.
This is unique and touching! 😍
Poignantly written and heartbreaking!!! Loving it!!!💕❤️❤️
I love your take on Babs challenge, Gerard...there was an undeniable sadness permeating through it all, while still feeling quite off-the-cuff and conversational. Well done!
