Ask me about them. The colors.
Let me pull you into the prism of rhetoric and rhythm
behind my eyes.
Pressed palms, flat, pulling, guiding. Smooth glass and polished shop. Come, I’ll grip your hand tighter. Watch the crystal chandelier - this angle is best.
Look, how light peals into view. Just a taste of what’s to discover. They’ll bleed more into sight, perhaps a bit more fluid now.
And they peel
tangling,
symphonical,
senistational,
synthaesthetic.
Behold.
My illusions. Spectrum of everything but sensibility, to whom
I’ll answer to, nevertheless.
Red, stained against my sternum: smokey, cinnamon-pressed tight, warm hugs, feet digging into suede, tight smiles onstage in eighth grade,
letter Amplitude, August, Antimony, Academic, balled fists and books held to a chest.
Orange, solid on the sides of my neck and shoulders: weight of a violin and pull, path, blend of singing,
three and with it citrus flavor rolls off my tongue, Imagine, Invenuitive, Investment, Ideation, rounded bathtubs and hands cupping a face.
Yellow, set around my eyes and on my forearms, sitting behind a cold sturdy desk, Brass, Brash, Clinical, Empty,
crouched on sidewalk digging through dirt, creaking floorboards of a dying town, picking up heavy handmade pottery of heavy voice and spice,
Green, placed against my ribs, the taste of vending machines whirring, blue sky across a warming road, tuba, clarinet, forming down a fence, Kitchen, Clap,
perhaps the number six alternating with red, green, red, expanse and too alert, prickly and pressured but not quite discomforting
Blue, pouring flowing floating throughout, turning left, late-night contemplation with a writer’s mask, familiarity, promising music, My Name, Melody, Nonetheless,
memories of Wednesday, brighter days and warm carpet beds, toy box prizes, saccharine pours and domed drink lids
Purple, pushing on my back, him, Friday, eight, quarter machine candy, sitting, Friday, eight, earbuds, machine,
Anything but purple.
Let's go back, shall we?
My visions are not your own, your senses untangled
Seeking to illustrate an intricate perception
I’ll answer your query:
They’ve always been here.
