Ashes in My Mouth
The hallway breathed through broken vents
Cold dust settled inside my veins
Every clock leaned toward the grave
While silence carved its name in me
I heard your voice inside the sink
Water shook against the drain
My hands turned pale beneath the lamp
Like winter trapped beneath thin skin
The mirror cracked without a sound
A black-winged shadow crossed the floor
I watched my heartbeat lose its shape
And crawl beneath the bedroom door
No prayer reached the rotten walls
No mercy lived inside this house
Only smoke wrapped round my throat
Leaving ashes in my mouth
The ceiling dripped with stained decay
Dark circles spread above the bed
I counted every distant creak
Until the walls began to bend
A dead moth rested near the lamp
Its powder stained my fingertips
The room felt colder every hour
Like night was feeding from my ribs
I tried to wash the fear away
Still soot remained beneath my nails
The water carried whispers back
Soft voices rising through the drain
By morning nothing looked the same
The house stood hollow, starved, and still
Yet ashes lingered on my tongue
As though the dark lived in me still
