As i wait

A quiet reckoning in the space between pain and healing

By Devon logan Mark-Anthony Daniels Published about a year ago • 1 min read

There are seasons when waiting feels like breaking. But I’ve come to see those moments not as punishment — but as preparation. This poem is an offering from one of those in-between spaces. Written in a quiet hour. Shared in the spirit of healing.

As I Wait

Some days are long and ugly

as I punish myself,

relive moments I lost—

how I wish I was man enough

to speak to you

and ask for help.

As I wait

I fear the night—

they are the darkest.

Time slows down.

As I wait

I’ve learned to numb the nights

with the green herb—

she helps me get through.

As I wait

I learn to forgive myself.

I learn to be better.

As I wait

I learn to release the past

and trust the future.

Some days, waiting has felt like the heaviest thing I’ve ever done. But I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always roar — sometimes it whispers.

To anyone else sitting in silence, not knowing what’s next — you’re not alone.

The man I’m becoming was born in the wait.
