AS I LAY SLEEPING
Or Was I?
AS I LAY SLEEPING
Or was I?
** **
I felt the bed slightly stirring
As if someone sat down next to me.
Without a word, a hand reached out –
Ice to the touch, with a chill that ran through me.
The room now felt colder than ever,
With a wind I just could not see.
Although I felt a presence,
There was no one in my house but me.
The room was too quiet, no sound could be heard
I wanted to turn to see who was there,
I did my best to open my eyes,
But felt trapped, paralyzed in the chilling air.
When I awoke the next morning,
I thought, “Oh my what a dream!”
But there were muddy footprints on the carpet!
I tried to cry out but found there wasn’t a scream.
