You gave me life
Though it is mine to claim
You gave me strength
In the midst of pain
Now the time has come I’m grown
I must face situations on my own
Now I share with you who I am
That you might accept me as I am
You say I’m wrong this is not right
This is my life which I’m prepared to fight
Maybe you want to protect me out of a sense of fear
The choice is mine let’s make that clear
We each must find the reason we are here
If I reach out my hand help me stand
Open your heart to accept me as I am
Like the wind it comes and goes
The promise of tomorrow no one knows
You gave me love you helped me stand
Now just accept me as I am
