As Autumn Leaves Fall

I Know That You're Still Here

Autumn leaves,

Gold, red and yellow,

crunch beneath my feet;

As I take this beautiful,

yet,

Chilly Journey,

To find you sitting,

Once more,

Beneath the sycamore tree.

I sit down,

Closing my eyes,

Hugging my coat,

As a cold tear falls down

my cheek.

I can still feel you near,

Holding me in your gentle arms,

And calling me,

"My dear."

As soon as I open my eyes,

You are gone;

Though a soft, golden leaf floats

to the ground,

And lands gently by my side.

As Autumn Leaves fall,

I hear your gentle call;

A friendly ghost from the past,

Saying,

"Carol, you can get through it all,"

Only when I hear those words,

Do I know,

You're still here.
