Are you upset? You're sad quite often.
Maybe you're irrational? Then again, who decides that?
Is it a matter of proportion? A set volume of feeling?
A cup of anger when a tablespoon is enough
Three gallons of tears when you only needed three quarts
Oven baked for 4 years when it should've been 3 hours
A recipe for resentment topped with a hint of neglect
But you excuse the behavior and push it downwards
You label the leftovers 'a misunderstanding'
Knowing they never bothered with your emotional cookbook
Sometimes there's no nuance
Sometimes it's just ill will
The other hand shows itself, however
When you refuse to share in the first place
Closing the pages to others
Expecting to them to read a hidden novel
Wanting them to craft a secret figure
The proportions of your sculpted habits
Never defined outside of the workshop
You hurl others in through the window
and without a word of instruction
You await a perfect piece of art
A replica of your ideals with no sliver of flaw
A homemade delicacy on the first attempt
As if your mind is hand crafted to be legible
Are you just like us? Of course you are
Are you upset? That's more than okay
Are you irrational? What are your boundaries of reason?
Is it a matter of proportion? Then ask yourself
If you believe your proportions are valid to follow
You think you can hide your truest reality
Yet it's so clear all of us can see
Because we know what you are
You are human, just like us
