Are You a Vocal Writer?

Ideas flowing,

fingers tapping on keyboard barely keeping up

powered by an iced latte

A challenge deadline almost near

gaze breaks from my laptop,

fingers stop mid type

I take a moment to glance

to observe the world around me

I hear the sound of voices,

debates and conversations

then sound of keystrokes that aren't mine

at a tempo that's not mine

I follow the sound

and eyes meet another writer

typing with flow

with focus and consistency

Are they a writer too?

A Vocal writer?

Part of the same writing platform as me?

No! A secret society!

Surely I'm the only writer here

that's part of the Vocal society

But what if there's another?

I watch them as they continue typing,

pausing only for a moment

Are you a Vocal writer?

Their eyes drift in my direction

Maybe they're thinking the same thing
