I

Like things that can heal and kill

You turned my soul blue. Often

Telling me I’m being something

such as persistent, maybe nasty,

Maybe aggressive. But I know I’m

Not. Sorry. I’m not these things

And I can try to understand why

You see me like this. But I can’t.

II

You want to feed the carnivore fish

So I tell you, you will. I just want

To give it a try. You ask me, why.

Why do I want to take this also

Away from you? Away from you?

I read so: that aquarium salts are

Good for the fish. Less for the plants

I’m trying to figure out what it means

For us. Not for anything. But to fit it

into this. Whatever this is. You know

I’m not what you tell me I am. And

I do not what you say I do. I wait,

That I do. I wait for you in this

Studio apartment, In my dreams.

Not really, though. You really

don’t exist there. I shall get why.

And fit it here.
