I feel lucky to be
living in a world
with the month April,
where everything seems
new and favorable.
Days are brightened by
gazania and lupine
by the roadsides,
mustard and encelia on the
velvety green hills,
redbud and camellia
in the yards.
Moonlit evenings
are perfumed by
citrus blossoms,
as migratory swallows
fly overhead.
My garden is pretty
with daffodils and iris.
Gusty winds not
bothering anymore.
After the long winter,
the warmth feels good
on the skin,
and the mood is cheerful.
April means to open —
that’s true!
All flora and fauna
are emerging from
dormancy or hiding.
I see rabbits
under the sycamores.
April, sure is a pleasant time
to be alive.
