A poem for those who know what I’m talking about.

By Tara TratePublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Refrigerator light illuminates

My face and the food inside

As I eat a stick of cheese I found in the door

Washed down with flavored creamer I drink straight from the container

And I wonder why I’m not asleep

I wonder why I’m awake

I think about how I am already stressed about going into work tomorrow, or is it today, and the hardships and stress it may bring

Sometimes when you want to sleep, you can’t

Sometimes it is comforting to be awake at 1:47am in your bed and hearing the rustling outside

Of trash or people or people made of garbage and feel gratitude for having a nice bed and a window to open or close depending on the temperature

If they decide to jack the heat up that night

But sometimes the comfort is brought to you by a little bit of cheese and some flavored coffee creamer
