Anxiety

We need some Boundaries

You lurk in my dreams

And it feels like you’re watching over me

Never alone yet never in good company

Always pushing me to achieve perfection

Never being able to silence your voice

That tells me I am full of imperfections

Your words cut deep

And I cling onto every word

“You’re not good enough”

But I’m doing my best

“Yeah well that’s not good enough”

You made me a perfectionist

Always critiquing myself and my work

Never satisfied yet always left to do the hard work

See we have a love hate relationship

Because I achieve so much

But I’m always under this constant pressure.

Anxiety, you work me to the bone

Promising me I’ll get everything I always wanted

With no rest in sight.

I’m running on an endless track

While you have my mind running rapid

Reminding me of everything that I lack

I can’t get no sleep with you in the driver seat

We need to set some boundaries

You don’t get to make me feel less than

I deserve breaks and a lot more grace

I’m going to bask in my success

And live in the moment I worked so hard to achieve

Because I deserve to be happy with myself and everything in between!
