Another Year Another Diet
Hunger bring it on, I am ready to fight you

Another Year Another Diet
Another year, another diet begins,
The calendar turns like it always does.
Hope arrives with a clean sharp voice,
Swearing this time it will be enough.
I make plans the way others pray,
Counting meals like measured sins.
The body remembers every promise,
Even when the mind pretends it didn’t begin.
Food becomes a language of guilt,
Every choice weighed twice over.
Not hunger, not health, not vanity,
Just wanting to feel in control again.
The mirror stays quiet, no judgement,
It lets me supply my own disgrace.
I look for the person I used to be,
Still waiting behind my face.
Some days I succeed in small ways,
A walk, a choice, a softer thought.
Other days I carry the truth,
kindness is harder than being taught.
Another year, another diet begins,
Still here, still trying, still flawed.
This isn’t about losing weight,
It’s about learning how not to be at war.
