there’s a rumbling outside as the space above us hears our disdain, and dusk falls into a gushing of despair against our sordid backs
So safe inside your arms,
The rain will not persist until dawn
So safe in a knotted canvas
The day has not yet begun
So sweet, the knot grows tighter than ever before
Safe like a bullet in a gun
The rain feels like a mother’s love waiting outside while I sleep in my bed
If he’s angry then it means he’s mine
Sweet like dark chocolate
The darkest chocolate ever made
Angry sweet love
Fire can be felt as the rain hits the ground

So many powerful, wonderful lines in here. "Safe like a bullet in a gun,"...dang! Your poetry never misses!
Hubba bubba! ☺️👏💚
I loved your ending “fire can be felt as the rain hits the ground.” I love all the contradictions in this piece! Great work!!
"Safe like a bullet in a gun," oh my, what a line. The contradiction here is jarring. Wonderful, wonderful writing.
Lovely amazing 🤩 Fabolous poem
Wow, love the metaphors in your poem!
"The rain feels like a mother’s love waiting outside while I sleep in my bed" This line was so beautiful. Loved your poem!
It is beautiful Melissa
Some powerful words sis , though the juxtaposition of the title concept reminds me too much of the song "He Hit Me, And It Felt Like A Kiss" , but a great poem
All of your work speaks, this piece yells - Kudos Melissa!
