Angels Welcome

Room for All

By Colleen WaltersPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

This is my bed.

We are basically spiritual beings with bodies, and this canopy addresses my spiritual self. When I lay here, I look up and my eyes take in the many shades of white, draping gracefully as ribbons of white on white gently gather in the embrace of soft white ribbon ties. It all makes my heart sing.

I may be a bit “ out there, ” because nobody else I know has their bed adorned with a beautiful draping canopy that gives them a bit of joy when they lay under it. The cream- colored sheets make the white draping curtains even a brighter white, and the contrast is stunning to me. I love to lay inside of it and float away to another dimension, in that space between awake and asleep.

I enjoy beauty, which I find everywhere. The swirls of creaminess that dance when I pour coffee creamer into my dark strong coffee, the way the light dances with the water raining from my shower head, the Sycamore tree leaves trembling from heavy raindrops outside my bedroom window. So many everyday seemingly mundane things combine to create a thing that our minds see as beauty.

My bed is a simple yet beautiful creation of two ordinary elements- a bed and a canopy.

Sometimes I forget it’s a mosquito netting that comes with ribbons. Because I’ve turned it into a little oasis, a place where angels come.

This is my bed.
