And yet...
Flight of the Nymphalidae
The cataclysmic shudder of fate’s wings
Sets forth the course to launch my virgin flight
Yet still—the firetail finches sing of spring
.
The only limit my imaginings
I’d dreamt of constellations blazing bright
(The cataclysmic shudder of fate’s wings)
.
Naïve and ill-prepared for worldly things
The monsters dressed in human form—their bite
Yet still—the firetail finches sing of spring
.
Despite the shattering cruelty of life’s stings
I shan’t surrender gently to the night
(The cataclysmic shudder of fate’s wings)
.
Behold—one winter, love just sauntered in
The dark and frost thawed into warmth and light
Yet still—the firetail finches sing of spring
.
A thousand lives, a thousand deaths fate brings
How many more will fill this tale I write
(The cataclysmic shudder of fate’s wings)
Yet still—the firetail finches sing of spring
