And I'll Always Be the Little Girl

poem/song about not being respected as a woman by a parental figure

By CT IdlehousePublished 4 months ago 1 min read

You say shit like that

And suddenly I'm 14 years old again.

Being told I'm nothing but a fat ass

And that I just need to be disciplined.

/

Your form of discipline

Made me want to cut my wrists.

Your form of discipline

Made me want to jump off a bridge.

Oh, sorry, did I make you sad,

With my suicidal shit?

Because it's all about you

And how you feel, Mr. Narcissist.

/

And I'll always be the little girl,

Who grew up without your permission.

And I'll always be the little girl,

Who became your least favorite type of woman.

And I'll always be the little girl,

You think should stay in the kitchen.

But that little girl became an angry bitch

With a broken brain and too much ambition.

/

You say shit like that

And suddenly I'm 19 years old again.

You're screaming at me

Because again, I'm such a disappointment.

/

Seem to be forgetting that this family tree

Is full of mania and secrets underneath

The roots are rotten and full of trauma

A legacy of angry men and broken women.

I don't want to become another chapter,

Of this fucked-up, neurotic tale of drama.

/

And I'll always be the little girl,

Who grew up without your permission.

And I'll always be the little girl,

Who became your least favorite type of woman.

And I'll always be the little girl,

You think should stay in the kitchen.

But that little girl became an angry bitch

With a broken brain and too much ambition.
