Ancient Lavish Landscapes
Signatures of time
Deep outward breath.... Returning
More profound within
This landscape gives me oxygen
Washing away the din
*
The noise from foreign soil
Aromas less than sweet
I've missed familiar petrichor
The neighbours on my street

Our creatures seem to greet me
Curiously observing
Gracious Giant Eucalypts
Glorious... branching... curving
*
Flora, fauna, all unique
Endemic to each place
Reviving child-like wonder
Captured by their grace
*
The waters here are always clear
Vital living sources
Winding fresh, the wild and salty
Through my veins it courses
*
Ancient peoples song lines
Country's long lived generations
Respectful cultural practices
The template of all Nations
*
When I come home my heartbeat slows
Underneath these skies
Be it by day or night time
My soul, while here will rise

I watched my breath form a small white cloud as it puffed out of my lips and dissipated before my eyes.
