I'm reaching level 3 anxiety

Hands clammy

Sweaty

I wait and watch

As the auctioneer bangs his gavel

One more item to sell

Before the poem will stand in glory

Waiting to be sold

To the highest bidder

~~~~
I'm reaching level 7 anxiety
Feel the tightness in my chest
Breathe
Don't forget to breathe
The poem is brought forward
Protected from our hands
But our eyes can feast
At the cursive words
Upon the ancient tome
——-
What a melody
He weaved so long ago
How many voices
Have spoken this
Ode to Saint Nick
Now this priceless work
Waits for its future
As the gavel bangs
For the final time
~~~

$280,000

A lifetime of dreams

Summed in that purchase

A trip to Europe

Upon the Orient Express

A library of books

To surround myself with

A fancy meal on the top floor

But alas, it’s just a dream

~~~
Heart pounds
In my chest
As I wake
Blurry eyed
Fuzzy brain
Wondering what would I do
If I could own such a treasure
Perhaps its best
If I never know
~~~~~~~~~~~
