An Echo Heard
"You're an anomaly to me."
Green and white stripes tap
In brown leather loafers
Tap to the rhythms of the patio music
Tap to the rhythms of the universe
My chest is knocked off its rhythm
Momentarily
The shine of your instrument
Your soul
Catches my eye
Long before your face ever did
Spears of iridescent light pierce my chest
Charcoal clouds dissipate and
A green emerald shines
Where the storm used to brew
My feet pick themselves
Up from the floor
And then me from the chair
Gliding on intuition
Pulled like an alien abduction
To this spaceship of love
That’s now standing before me
Or I before it
A smile and then blackout
No memory of words exchanged
Because they don’t matter
You know you’ve said variations
of the same thing before
Over and over in many lives:
Hello stranger, I love you
