Thank you for all that you do to make our writing the best it can be!
You find the stray typo
with your careful hawk like gaze
that rogue extra letter that doesn't belong
the mix-ups of their, there, and they're
Your, you're, its, and it's
grammatical errors that somehow sneak by
You notice open plot holes
gaping wide open
You can spot that run on sentence
about a mile long
Pencil sharpened, eraser ready
you eliminate words, slash the sentence in two
to make it more concise
Us fragile writers with a delicate ego
might disagree with your constructive criticism
We might be defensive of our story
and what's contained inside
And yet, we should remember
You bring out the writer in us
A writer that was there all along
With your never ending arsenal of suggestions
your hawk-eye gaze and careful precision,
you give our story that final polish
You improve our writing from what was good to even better
