America the Beautiful?

Is it truly America the Beautiful?

Or is it America the Foolish?

We Americans live in pride, but are we too full of pride?

It can be argued that we are self-absorbed and power hungry.

That we feed the rich and ignore the poverty.

That we are the kings of Burger King and we put the Big in Big Mac

Are ruthless and sloppy? Or mighty and sharp?

Yes.

We have arrogance, I’d admit.

But what else do we have?

We are a melting pot.

A fondue of culture.

Flowing with freedom

Sure, we have our sins, our darkness, our falls.

We have our hurts and our madness and our outright injustices.

But we are America the Beautiful. Of many people, of beautiful people.

Of progress, of celebration, and of independence.

We are – America the Beautiful.
