Amaranthine Ebullience

A workplace tragedy

By Deb GribbenPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Her amaranthine ebullience belies

Destruction bent on ravaging beneath.

Begun by fate one day. Oh, cruel guise!

When hampered her ability to breathe.

One Brandywine spot growing over head

Meant leaking toxic chemicals to heat

Her workplace teaching children. When, instead,

Liquid once released made lungs cry defeat.

Surprised, she found tiles scattered on the floor

And pond of purplish fluid pooled in doom.

Creating deadly fumes not there before

To inhale upon entering the room.

Disabled by a hidden pain. In part –

Unable to talk, work, or do things she

Once did. Bones brittle, problems with her heart.

Worn out and hospitalized constantly.

Forced to retire, forced to fight for what’s hers.

Yet amaranthine ebullience endures.
