Always Worth the Wonder
poetry submission
Always worth the wonder
Fevered dreams alit on wrinkled reams
Paper trails entail the soul at last
Ink and tears, scribbled fears, peering into the past
But words outlast a decent author
Just as birds aren’t bound by shells
Round and round we look from hells and paths and places
Eye squinted traces, times troubles and faces we recall
And all to learn to love a little more as we spin higher
O the dreams within those reams, all that sin and fire gleams
We capture truth and beauty, pains and sorrows
But language only ever borrows
from the soul to find its voice
As choice is ours to mind the toll
What questions wrought from such exercise
To steal the words that open eyes
Banish lies, that we might once, in part, behold
And shield our spirits from the cold outside
These words make sure one cannot hide
For when we rest our flesh asunder
We may know, t’was worth the wonder

I don't know that there is much I could say that wouldn't sound self-aggrandizing in a bio meant to steer you towards reading my work. I suppose, I should just thank you for offering your time and attention.
