Alone?

A Writer's Lonely Thoughts

By Corey IveyPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Alone in the desolate darkness, tired and cold

A story for me that’s forever retold

Falling for lies that drip from cold, smiling, lips

Everyone thinking that my heart can be won by a wink and full hips

Wanting to be loved as I love seems to be an impossible thing

Loving unconditionally and having a woman wear my ring

Laying here all alone once more

Hurting and torn to my very core

From the darkness a tentacle slithers across my cheek and flicks a tear away

A guttural voice speaks from the blackness, stern but kind, “Don’t worry Dear Writer, unlike the women you’ve loved with nothing in return, we will always and forever stay.”
