steeped in culture and tradition

luring hearts both young and old

where the air begins to stiffen

as the evening air turns cold

is a place of ambiguity

where the faint of heart take heed

and spirits pass translucently

for no one can hear you scream

candles flicker under moonlight

on the breeze is whispering

there are creatures stirring in the night

that most human eyes can't see

in the distance, lonely shadows

come to greet the ravaged soul

dwindled now, the lowly scarecrow

what remains lies in the soil

witches brew, casting a spell

stirring the dead's unrested slumber

delicacies for hounds of hell

never satisfies the hunger

voodoo dolls and conjuring

rituals and thinning veils

the wandering of halloween's

gruesome and torrid tales

keep your lanterns lit till midnight

keeping dark forces at bay

because evil rides till daylight

it might be wise to pray
