Author’s Note: Needed a bit of a reminder today not to take myself too seriously, so when the tune for “London Bridge” got stuck in my head, I just decided to go with it. The result: a structured and rhyming dig at structure and rhyme.

A lot of my poems attempt to adhere to formal structures but I do take some liberties, especially with meter because it just doesn’t click in my head. But since being on Vocal I’ve actually written a few free verse poems which I’d never attempted before and I’ve actually enjoyed the process, so I’m excited to try some more (not with this piece obviously).

Also when I first became active on Vocal, I published a parody of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” as a teaser for my Whodunit Challenge entry and I had a lot of fun with it, as I did with this one. I suppose something silly can be refreshing from time to time!
