All The Silent People

Hush Hush Baby

In her dollar dress from the Goodwill store

Pink and lacey, she's a sight to behold

All that frill, just to hide the bruises

No matter how much she fights, she loses

Still her eyes shine bright

But she will suffer again, night after night

She tried to tell, now she just cries alone

Too little to make it on her own

You call it hell

She calls it home

Sitters have suspicions but they don't dare ask

Those who are sworn to protect and serve only turn their backs

Her bright eyes lost their light tonight

Now here she lies in a box with a lid

That hides more than that pretty dress ever did

You all will remain, trapped by all the things you didn't say

Now more free than you all will ever be

No longer tortured or alone

You call it heaven

She calls it home
