All The Little Things

You Find It In

By Emilee Published 4 years ago • 1 min read

Waking gradually, sun-warmed and smiling,

the sound of music softly playing, a woman's voice

singing of clouds, of ups and downs and fairy tales.

A soft worn couch, patchwork pillows colored bright,

book in hand, words breath life to worlds,

stories end happily, heroines triumphant.

Gentle clinking of ice in a cooling glass,

the tart taste of lemon, calmed with sweetness,

condensation under hand, blades of grass between toes.

A ringing phone, answered by a familiar voice,

an open door, and a warm embrace to greet you,

the rhythmic tapping of tiny feet, and burbling laughter.

The encompassing softness of a chunky-knit sweater,

quiet, cooling, lamp-lit darkness

sweet, warm, marshmallowed hot chocolate.

A welcoming bed, a soothing hand,

night-dark, a fan rhythmically hums,

welcoming sleep, and pleasant dreams.
