All in a Day's Work

a normal poem about normal things

By CT IdlehousePublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Wake up.

Stretch.

Check the news.

Doom and gloom.

/

Feed cats.

Eat breakfast.

More news alerts.

More people shot in the street.

/

Reading.

Script-writing.

Phone buzzes.

More files released.

/

Instagram.

Funny cats.

More abductions.

Billionaires ate babies.

/

Eat a sandwich.

Watch YouTube.

Do yoga.

"Did you know newborns suck harder when they hear their mother's voice?"

/

Cry.

Write down day's events.

Just in case.

"Your littlest girl was a little naughty."

/

They're still alive.

They're not in jail.

Eat dinner.

Play with cats.

/

More abductions.

Voter restrictions.

Superbowl Sunday.

Former Prince Andrew touching a supine child's body.

/

Play video games.

Disassociate.

Fantasize about a better life.

Babies taste like cream cheese, apparently.

/

Lie in the darkness.

Wondering if you'll survive the year.

Fall into uneasy sleep.

Dream of broken, bleeding dolls.

/

Wake up.

It's another day.

There are child sex slaves locked away

And stranded on islands.
