_______________
I fall apart
with all my heart
with every flake
that falls so near.
The music plays
special Christmas
mp3s I can hardly
stand to hear.
Your pictures call
out to me from my phone
reminding me of a time
when I wasn't so alone.
It's feeling like just
any old month
there's no spring in
my step, and I can no
longer count the many
times I've wept.
I should be with you
not here, lonely
in this tomb of a bed
with thoughts of our
years of friendship
swirling around
in my head.
I can hear the
carolers down the
street on our block
singing Silent Night
and Jingle Bell Rock.
I want to be happy
but without you it's
not Christmas
how can I express
the depth of how I
miss you so very much?
Our friendship has lasted
over 20 years and yeah
we've had bad times, and
even tears but our bonds
always been so strong
it's hard to believe it's
really completely gone.
It's funny how the song
always says, "All I want for
Christmas is you" but now
I understand how it can
be so true.
