ALL HALLOWS EVE

 Shadows loomed

 “””””””

 There was no  moon;

The sky was black.

Not even one star

Was winking back.

 “”””

 It was late October:

All Hallow’s Eve.

The calm of night

Begged to deceive.

 “”””

 Along the ground

A mist now crept.

It was so quiet as if

The world now slept.

 “”””

 But through the fog

A shadow loomed.

I heard leaves rustle.

Was I now doomed?

 “””””

 I held my breath

With tearful dread,

Wondering perhaps

I’d soon be dead.

 “””””

 My body twisted;

I almost screamed!

I wasn’t dead.

Thank God, I only dreamed.
