All Emperors Are Mad

A Sonnet

The hideous disease of empire

Bifurcates reality completely:

There are those who are of use, and others

Who will be of use, or vanish neatly

The mind of empire is efficient

A simple formula makes this easy;

You belong to me or are deficient

The latter faction makes it quite queasy

If you resist, you need education

And if you cannot be taught, and thus, healed

Then you beg for annihilation

All must obey, or have their fates sealed

A jealous, insecure sociopath

Who has the answer but can’t do the math

Sonnet

I liked the way you staged this with pictures to make a point. Nicely crafted D.J.

Was this a sonnet? Or breaking news?

I'd want out, but would not be strong enough. The concept of Innere Führung mentioned in the article was new to me and moving. Thank you for reminding us of scary emperors' minds.

"You belong to me or are deficient". This captures exactly that idea of absolute power corrupting absolutely.
