Early Sunday Morning, While They Rested in Bed,
An Unspeakable Evil Was Showing Its Head.
It Came with Great Promises of Much Better Times
All The While Plaining Devious Crimes.
Alexander Irving, He Said His Name Was,
A Devil, For Sure, Disguised Like a Dove.
A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, A Snake in The Grass.
What Looked Like a Harp Was a Gong Made of Brass.
Next to The Screens, He Stood Tall, Smiling Wide,
With Graphs Full of Profits and Numbers Beside.
“No Human Error! No Waste! No Delay!
Just Sign on The Line, Right Here Today.”
Monday Came, The Crew Ready to Start.
The Cashiers Received a Jolt to Their Heart.
Without A Warning So That They’d Know
The Manager Just Let Them All Go.
“No Need for Cashiers,” Alexander Said.
“My Machines Can Do Better Instead.
No Waiting in Line, No Fumbling About.
Just Grab What They Need and Simply Walk Out.
“I’ll Track What They Take, The Moment They Grab It
When They Walk Out, I’ll Charge Their Credit.
Don’t Worry About Theft, I Got It Covered.
I’ll Have Camera’s Above Like Spies They Will Hover.”
Tuesday’s The Day the Trucks Did Arrive.
They Came on Time, But with A Surprise.
They Had No Drivers, Not One Was in Sight.
They All Were Self-Driving, Thanks To That Blight.
Alexander Irving Got Rid of Them All.
He’ll Certainly Lead Us to Our Downfall.
A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, A Snake in The Grass.
What Looked Like a Harp Was a Gong Made of Brass.
No Stock Boys Needed to Unload a Thing.
Robots And Drones Would Beep, Blip, And Ring.
They Rolled Off the Truck in Orderly Ways.
Everything Done in One Tenth of a Day.
Wednesday Began, Or Humpday They Said.
Alexander Had an Announcement He Read.
It Was Perfect for That Situation.
He Gave Everyone a Permanent Vacation.
No Customers Came, Which Was Somewhat Undaunted.
They Ordered Online and Got What They Wanted.
Arrived at Their Homes Without Human Touch.
It Wasn’t That Bad, Didn’t Cost Much.
Computers Running Everything with Success.
Irvin Was Right; I Have to Confess.
No Humans on Payroll, And Profits Increase.
But Without a Heart, It All Will Cease.
Bright Thursday Morning, New Victim in Sight.
He Knew He Would Have Them Long Before Night.
Banks in His Eyes, Money Controlled,
He’d Own the World, If He Could Be Bold.
Before It Was Noon, The Bankers Were Canned.
Their Keys Stopped Working by Corporate Command.
Alexander Irving Processed Each Loan
Repossessed Houses with Pitiless Tone.
Alexander Was Evil, There Was No Doubt.
He Gave the Word and Cast Them All Out.
A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, A Snake in The Grass.
What Looked Like a Harp Was a Gong Made of Brass.
.
Friday’s Normally a Day of Hope.
The End of The Week Brings Joy, Nope!
Irving, Next, Attacks the Schools.
Claiming The Teachers Were Nothing but Fools.
The Robots Taught Children with Perfectly Phrased Words,
While Teachers and Staff Were Shown the Curb.
The Students Stared at Their Neat Little Screens,
Reciting Responses in Sterile Routines.
When Little Jane Asked If the Moon Could Feel Sad,
The Chatbot Responded: “Your Question Is Bad.”
No Pencils Went Flying. No Spitballs Were Tossed.
No Child Was Forgotten. No Temper Was Lost.
Saturday Morning, The CEO Soared
As Irving Came After the Board.
He’ll Make Decisions, No Need for Advice.
He’ll Do More Work Than They Could Do Twice.
So, One by One They All Disappeared.
With Profits Soaring, There’s Nothing He Feared.
Humans Replace with Servers Alone,
A Business That Runs All on Its Own.
The CEO Learned One Thing Was True.
With All Humans Gone, He Was Out Too.
A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, A Snake in The Grass.
What Looked Like a Harp Was a Gong Made of Brass.
