It becomes the all consuming naw at your gut

From the moment it introduces itself into your life

Little else has such a powerful effect on your existence

You're officially in an endless loop, a torturous rut

Nothing else matters except to stick to your guns

But this one's bigger than anything you've ever faced

Fighting tooth and nail to get through the misery and pains

Feeling its icy cold reality, realizing you're out of good runs

Every moment in time is going to haunt you now

As the clocks continue ticking despite your efforts

It comes for you faster with each day

And all you can do is ask how

How is this it for one who wasn't terrible in this life

Sure, you made many a mistake

To err is human, and forgiveness divine, they say

But the cold reality continues cutting you like a knife

The bones, just a crossed leg in your sleep makes them ache

And your body begins to change from the inside out

Nothing works as it once did

Between sleeplessness and pain, it's more than you can take

But you continue to take it in and push through

Suffering sometimes in silence, and sometimes in screams

With all the things that are gone, are you to be next

But you get up, because what else is there to do
