Say It Again challenge - The Prompt: Write a satirical poem that repeats one line at least three times. Each time it appears, its meaning should shift or deepen.

Repetition can sharpen a point or quietly undo it. Here, it needs to do both. Build your poem around a line that comes back at least three times.

Aging Is Not for Sissies some say

And hey, you know for me today

I am not a soft, or an overly sensitive gal

I am not a timid or cowardly pal

~

Just what do they mean by

Aging is not for sissies - why?

What is a sissy, is it because I cry?

Does that make me one? I try

to cry. It is healing and my

thought is why not cry guy?

~

If aging is not for sissies, then what

Hubby says sissy box for technology but

he is over there on his sissy box

He teases the grands he mocks

them when on their phone or the tablet

Television is technology too, his habit

~

Sissies, I think not! It is truly our power era

No apologies, not a big deal, not hysteria

Simply unapologetically him and her

and me too, I am ready for aging to occur

Blue hair was cool as a kid and now

it is all colors of the rainbow, wow!

~

Aging is not for sissies I say

We have husbands that tease and may

have trouble in many a way

and I say hey, it is part of our day

and who is to say, we are sissies today?

~~
