Again?

What is it?

As I drove, I was filled with happiness, with hope.

We had plans, we had spoken that morning.

You told me about how you’d been thinking of me.

The day got a little busy, but I made sure you knew I thought of you too, that I was happy to be seeing you soon.

Then like a switch, you turned it off, shut it down, decided all of the sudden you lost interest.

Left me sitting there pinned like a lost board on Pinterest.

No reason given, no warning. Through the magic of technology you were gone.

You left me wondering wtf have I done?

It’s easy to turn the blame on yourself, especially when you’re so well practiced from the past.

It’s getting harder and harder not to wonder just why I even bother.

It’s the same stories, the same endings. Everyone appreciates a big heart, but no one tells you that the bigger your heart, the more alone you will be.

It’s quite painful getting one’s hope up, only to have that bubble burst once again.

When did it become so normal to act like you care, show genuine interest, make all the efforts only to up and run the moment feelings get too real?

When did the words “take care” go from being thoughtful to painful?

Can we please normalize honesty and respect? Follow through?

Until the next let down, I’ll be here recklessly hopeful.
