A poem

Once again, I have eaten

and the tears and the sweat are becoming one

in a slowly growing puddle by my aching feet.

-

Once again, I have slept

and all of those not-so-distant but distant sirens

hold my eyes open with clammy hands.

-

Once again, I have spoken

and my words are merely silence

to the ears I most want to hear them.

-

Once again, I have suffered,

and my protective film has been torn open,

allowing for water and some insects and some dirt

to waltz in.
