Aftermath

A Poem.

I have eaten too much quicksand

And now my lungs are hungry

As they sink I find my head feels heavy

As they pump glass granules into my blood,

All my smiles feel like hard work.

.

You still don't know me.

Even as I trip down the stairs

In slow-motion

Still grappling with the idea of your shame

Forcing it upon you

But left blistered and burnt from your pride.

.

Confrontation, loudly,

The harmless idea planted beside you

Is what we all underestimate.

I've made myself visible

Highlighted each tiny character of my sentences

The DNA and RNA that my mind beholds,

This is what you underestimate.
