After The Parade
Illusions of Freedom
What a whirlwind of celebrations
unique in every way
People from every walk of life
Come together with joy and laughter
Dancing, singing, clapping, and holding
hands.
Embracing people, you know, and even
hugging those who just came out to
get a glimpse of the celebration
regardless of the theme.
After days of fun-filled activities for the
disabled person, young or
old, and some challenges I can’t
explain.
We embrace the parades
acknowledging the freedom we all come
to know.
Learning to live in our truths, enjoying
happy moments because we have
arrived or have, we!
After the parades, the streets are quiet,
and the window shades have been
pulled down.
No one is talking about our freedom
it doesn’t seem real; it’s just an illusion
that people cared.
Back to protest on Capitol Hill, nine
justices on the supreme court turned
the world upside down with a six to
three vote; our freedom is gone.
My heart is heavy with a feeling of
despair, mourning this celebration
Oh, the grief I bare.
Oh, my beware!
authoritarian is on the rise
don’t close your eyes,
or turn your head,
our freedoms of life, liberty, and pursuit
of happiness
will be taken away!
